Terms & Conditions

Please read the following terms and conditions carefully before placing an order, sending a consignment, or using the sourcing and cargo services of Al Meer Sourcing & Cargo Company.

Delivery

Al Meer Sourcing & Cargo Company takes utmost measures for timely and efficient delivery within the time period provided in our quotation. However, any delays occurring due to factors beyond our control, including but not limited to force majeure, natural disasters, calamities, law and order situations, government policy changes impacting import/export, public processions, road blockades due to any reason, war, or any such act causing threat to property or life, or any other cause beyond the control of the company, shall not be the responsibility of the company.

We will communicate relevant delays to the customer as reasonably practicable. The goods delivery process will resume when it is safe to do so or when such unforeseen hindrances are removed.

Any loss to the customer arising due to delivery delays caused by factors beyond Al Meer's control shall not be the responsibility of the company. The company is not liable to refund freight charges or bear any cost pertaining to the shipment, including but not limited to business loss, material expiry due to delay, loss of advance orders, or any other consequential loss.

Customs Detention / Delay

Any goods detained or held by customs due to prohibited items for import/export, incorrect item details provided by the customer, attempted import/export of illegal or banned goods, or any other violation of prevailing laws shall be the responsibility of the customer.

For such detentions, delays, inspections, penalties or charges imposed by a competent authority, Al Meer Sourcing & Cargo Company bears no responsibility. The customer is liable to pay any additional costs, charges, fines or penalties arising from the customer's intended action, inaccurate information, negligence or failure to comply with applicable requirements.

Al Meer reserves the right to recover costs incurred during the process and reserves the right to pursue any lawful remedies considered necessary depending on the situation.

During customs inspection, customs officials may remove, retain or inspect one or more pieces from shipments containing small items for their own evaluation or detailed inspection. Such items may be returned in a damaged condition or may not be returned. Al Meer bears no responsibility for such incidents where they result from actions taken by customs or other competent authorities. Such incidents are rare but can occur.

Loss / Damage

Al Meer Sourcing & Cargo Company bears no responsibility for losses or damages occurring to goods during handling, loading or unloading where such loss or damage results from loose, inappropriate, insufficient or inadequate packing, lack of packing, or failure to use sufficient materials capable of withstanding normal handling, movement, pressure or impact during transportation.

The customer is required to ensure adequate and safe packing of goods in strong cartons, boxes or suitable containers. Where appropriate, customers should use suitable protective materials such as thermopore, foam, air bags, bubble wrap or equivalent materials to secure goods inside cartons or boxes.

Customers should also ensure that appropriate handling instructions and visual handling markings are prominently displayed on boxes or cartons where required.

Any liquids shipped in fragile or unsuitable containers that leak during transit and damage other goods may result in the customer being responsible for losses reasonably arising from such leakage. The company reserves the right to recover such losses from the customer on behalf of affected customers.

Lost Shipment

Al Meer Sourcing & Cargo Company bears no responsibility for loss of a shipment caused by force majeure or circumstances described under the delivery delay clause, or where adequate tracking information, shipment identification or shipment marks are missing or are not clearly and prominently visible on all cartons or boxes.

Although we take utmost care in handling customer consignments, if a shipment is completely lost or completely damaged during transit while it is in Al Meer's custody, and the loss is not caused by an excluded circumstance, the company's liability, subject to the agreed shipment terms and applicable law, shall be limited to the applicable settlement described below.

Where freight has been paid in advance, Al Meer will return the freight charges paid in advance and provide an additional amount equal to the freight charged, or the invoice value where the invoice value is less than the freight charged.

Where freight has not been paid in advance, Al Meer bears no responsibility under this clause unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Insurance Cover for Shipment Loss

Goods booked under normal operations are not automatically covered by insurance for loss or damage. If a customer wishes to have goods covered for a completely lost or completely damaged consignment where the goods received are of no use to the customer, the customer must submit a prior insurance coverage request together with the original or valid invoice showing the value of the goods before the order is placed.

Where insurance coverage is accepted, Al Meer will charge an insurance fee of 10% of the invoice value in addition to the agreed freight charges, payable in advance as required at the time of order.

In an approved insured claim involving a completely lost or fully damaged shipment, Al Meer's liability will be subject to the approved insurance arrangement and will be limited to the applicable invoice value. In such a case, the affected goods may become the property of Al Meer as part of the settlement, where legally permissible.

Insurance does not cover partial damage or partial loss where the imported goods remain usable by the customer, unless otherwise specifically agreed in writing.

Customer Responsibilities

The customer is responsible for providing accurate and complete information relating to the goods, including descriptions, quantities, values, packaging details and any information required for import or export processing.

The customer must not send or request the transportation of prohibited, restricted, illegal or banned goods. The customer is responsible for providing any required licences, permits, certificates, invoices and supporting documents unless Al Meer has expressly agreed in writing to provide a particular document or service.
